From her own struggle of finding the right size jeans as a big girl to establishing her own brand, this is the story of Eastern Cape born Siba Mdingi.
She started her jeans brand to solve a problem for herself but realised that she could actually do the same for other women who are struggling with the same challenge. Siba’s entrepreneurial spirit pushed her to establish Nzuri Jeans, which she launched earlier this week.
“I have always struggled to find a fitting pair of jeans, if it was not the hip area it was the waist that was a problem,” she said. She said she thought the challenge was only in the Easter Cape where she hails from.”But when I arrived in Johannesburg to study at Wits I faced the same challenge and that was also frustrating,” she says. Nzuri is a Swahili word that means beautiful. She explained that her range was inspired by Swahili words. The range includes jeans, skirts and dresses made from denim and can be ordered from her online store at www.nzurijeans.com.
